JD 7775 starter staying engaged

Went to start my 7775 starter stayed engaged and would not shut off with key. Off position all lights on the eim were lit up something back feeding? Just got the door open and smoke started rolling. Burned up the starter and the fuel shutoff solenoid. Replaced both, now starter sometimes stays engaged randomly.I have tested the switch and that checks out. Anybody have any other ideas?

there must be a relay on the main power panel. I do not remember exactly what it was. May it stick from time to time. The other option is bad teeth of the flywheel gum that clog the teeth of the starter.

My thoughts are a bad/sticky realay too.
Glad your machine didn't catch fire, when things burn up like this, it can end quite badly.
