Hello to all, First off I have a NH LS185.B with about 1700 hours 2005 model. The thing started acting up with a weak/surge in the right side drive, I had some lines made up to switch the drive sides so right hand operated left and left operated right. Anyway the problem remained on right side so I have replaced right drive with a reman motor. Now the thing is I found some glitters in my oil while changing the motor. How do I clean the system? Will the glitters cause excessive wear? (only very small particles). I have a nice size filter housing from a truck wet kit, would it work to install that on the suction of the hydrostat pump? sorry long post with many questions. thanks for any input.

The proper way is to disassemble everything and flush the metal out. Since the hydraulic and hydrostat share the same oil, the contamination can be throughout both systems. Depending on what failed in the motor, there could be a lot of metal floating around. It is also recommended on a hydro failure to replace the oil cooler since there is no way to flush the cooler effectively.

Thank you for the reply. I would say it was a minor fail, still drove, etc. just not right. was only a small amount of very small glitters.
