Hydraulic Issues

I just had to replace a hose to the tilt cylinder on my bobcat 743. I topped off fluid afterwards and now the machine will only raise the arms. The tilt doesn’t work at all and I can only get the bucket to come down when the machine is off. Everything worked fine on it yesterday. Also while it is running the hydraulic filter becomes very hot. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

First, make sure that your auxiliary hydraulics is not in the detent to hold them on continuous flow. Move the right control lever all the way to the left to disengage it.

Will it raise And Lower the arms? If it is only raising then you may have issues with the control valve or linkage to the control valve.

If the filter is getting hot I would replace it and inspect the used filter for debris. They normally only get real hot when they are clogged and the bypass is activated.

Make sure that the fluid is actually topped off. Bobcats are self air bleeding and there may be air in the lines still. Run the lift and tilt slowly for a little bit and if you see foam in the level glass you will need to put in more fluid when the foam settles. And then repeat.

Also, make sure that you put the correct oil in the reservoir. Too heavy or light an oil weight can cause issues.

If you disconnected both hoses to the tilt make sure that you connected them back correctly.
