Hydraulic fluid out of oil cooler.

I want to change hyd. fluid in my L555 Deluxe skid steer. Also would like to get all the old fluid out of the oil cooler. What would be the best way to do this?

You'll never get it all out, but the way i do it is to run the machine at idle and pump it out the aux lines. As soon as it starts spitting, shut down and re-fill.

Wonder how critical it is to adhere to the manual's hyd change interval if the system has never been exposed to any outside contamination. Seems like the recommended 10-30 engine oil leads a pretty easy life in a hydraulic system compared to use in an engine which it's designed for. No acid dilution, no soot dilution, and no combustion contaminates nor severe heat (under normal operation) like gas or diesel engine use. I've only owned a skid steer for about 4 months and changed and cut open the hyd filter 2 days ago and found no metallic particles at all between any of the pleats (which was a relief).

When I got this skid steer it had set for 6 years. I bought it after it started and operated well. I cleaned the hydraulic tank out as best as I could put in new fluid. Changed all filters. Still the screen gets plugged after about 3-4 hrs. I didn't try to get the fluid out of the cooler and maybe I should. I have a couple of leaks that needs fixed so will drain and clean everything again. The L555 has plates on top of the tanks that were only bolted on. I made gaskets for them so the water couldn't get in. I also want to drain the fluid when it is hot. I drained it cold the last time. I would think that if the fluid is clear it would last for a couple of years. Filters are a great protection and should be changed as manual states.
