Need some ideas on how to remove the brass filter on the block under the seat. I put a 3' cheater on the nut today and put a lot of pressure with some smacks with a large hammer to no avail. Does any one have any suggestions that will not damage the block I would to change this filter before new oil? Thanks

I have one sitting next to me but mine does not have it what end are you getting ahold of big or small?

And tighten a bit to help brake it loose
Antfarmer Thanks I got the hose off and tried tighten it and then put 1 1/2" socket on it with a long breaker with pipe the block tried to move so I was afraid to put two much pressure and did not know if heat would damage anything. Everything look clean but would still like to clean this filter before new oil!

No Not yet, I will have try it latter I'm tied up next couple of days, when the block move I was just afraid of breaking something. I will have to look in parts book and see if there is any o-rings in there be I try the heat.

There is one on the bronze filter.....,.typ in bronze filter in the search box ,.......put some pen oil on it

And the filter has a threaded end on it
Sorry if it sounds stupid, but you are on the correct fitting aren't you? the middle on on the left side? not the big one on the top of the pump?
With that said, you may need to shock it a little. Get a drift and strike around the fitting to try and get it to break the seal. Hopefully it frees it up enough to get it off. I'd never thought a 3' pipe would be needed to get it out......

Tazza Thanks for the reply. Yes I'm on the middle fitting I put enough pressure on it that the block move a lot, so before I work on it again I ordered the o-rings for the block. I think I will remove the block and put it in a vice so I can use an impact. I afraid if I put to to much heat for fear of gaulding the threads. I quest I could heat and let it cool completely before trying to remove. Is there any hazards of removing the whole block?

Friends I need a little more Help! I took my hydrualic block off to remove and clean bronze screen but still could not remove filter evening use a air impact so I would like to flush out the filter. What should I use and what direction does the hydrualic oil flow, I can blow through the screen pretty easy so I know it not stop up. i have taken the valve with the o-rings on the top of block off but the o-ring is still in filter area. Please guide me what can be used to flush the filter out with damage to o-ring. Thanks

That filter should be cleaned or replaced every 500 hours I think and you have the block out and can't get it loose take it to someone that can a local shop should do

As it is off, i'd give heat a go.
Do you have an air chisel too? Try beating on the sides of the hex a bit to see if you can crack it.
Honestly, an impast gun is not always great at removing tight bolts/fittings. I'd try hitting the fitting hex and see if a socket and bar will get it to crack.
Heat won't go a stray, but it will melt the Orings inside, possibly making it so you need a new filter and not just cleaning it.
I'd not trust washing it out with the fitting/filter in place. I had all sorts of crap stuck on the 731 that i had, it would never have come out without removing the filter its self.

Thanks Tazza! Your subjection of hit with air hammer worked miracles. Put hammer to the fitting and hit with air impact work great it came out after several seconds of impacting. It need to come out there was quiet a bit of trash trapped around the filter. Again Thanks now I can move on with my rebuild.

Glad you got it out. My filter looked the same way, it even had pieces of silicone and hydraulic hose. Hopefully after giving it a good clean it will run better than ever.

My 743 has weak hydraulics, mainly drive functions, arm and plate tilt are “okay” but slow. I suspect this filter. They recommend a MEL1177 tool to remove the filter. Is this necessary? Can I adapt something to perform the same function?
Thanks.

Dameon; I had my block out because I could not get the nut loose that held the filter. When I got the nut loose the spring, tube and filter came out easy I just pull out with fingers. If the block is still in the machine you could use sharp nose pliers. Just be careful screw sticking out is what the filter removal tool screws onto for future use. When pulling the filter be careful that you keep tube tight to the filter so no dirt gets by it. Be sure to clean everything good. Good Luck
