How to run a 642 with cab up???

My old 642 runs great, but if I ever need to do work under the cab with the motor running, I need to disconnect the 2 connectors between the cab wiring harness and the engine wiring harness, which means I can't start it.

I've tried just hot wiring it, which works, but is dangerous as hell. I've also thought of extension cables, which might be better (less dangerous). Anyone have and ideas on this???

Perhaps splice in a 2nd key switch so you could start it with the cab up and turn it off if necessary?
