is there a specific place on the bobcat to find out if i have a 743 or a 743b? i need to know where to look to be exact for i want to order a service manual. thanks for your help

With the help of this forum I was able to locate my serial number. You can call the Bobcat Marketing Service at 701-678-6165 and using the serial number they can tell you the year and what series unit you have. Takes about 30 seconds.

If 743 has big bolt in middle of axle (removable hub) should be a B series...

There is usually a plate somewhere on the unit with the info. On the older models I believe it is on the left hand side when looking from the rear. My plate was missing and I found my serial # stamped on the front below and to the right of the chain case fill plug. I had to lift the bucket out of the way to find it. The numbers are very small. In reading previous forums the number can be located in various places.

i belive what was being refrenced is the early 743 did not have removalbe axle hubs the b did one big bolt in middle of hub about1 1/1-2 making axle seal replacement, a whole lot eiser.
