Help with Bobcat 753 fuel injection pump

Hello All

I have acquired a bobcat 753 which sat for 10 years and had a few parts robbed off it. It had a cracked head and I have fixed that but the fuel injection pump was taken off of it. I was able to use one from a 743 and it now runs great some smoke but not much. My question is where is the best place to get one. The other 753 at shop had a denso 094500-5610 on it so i assume my 753 would be the same. This machine will only be used on my property so it will see very little use. Is there a aftermarket one that will work and if so what do you all suggest

there is only 6 diesel horsepower difference between the two engines ,I think that it would be prefered if the larger injection pump was on the smaller engine making it run a tad rich, than the other way letting it run a tad lean. but with that said,watch your engine temp. and power levels output and play it by what you are doing for a while until you know what is normal for the machine now. use it and if you stumble on the correct pump at the right price go for it,but at least now you do not have to be in a hurry to get the machine up and running.

I'm surprised the pump worked on the V2203, unless someone had changed the engine from a v1702 to a 2203. Did you check your injection timing was right? this can be a cause of smoke.

Keep in mind, diesels do not run rich or lean like petrol/gas engines do. Sure, there are air/fuel ratios that you want to keep it running within, but a diesel pulls in a full charge of air every stroke, not throttled like a petrol engine with a butterfly does. The engine draws in a charge of air, the amount of fuel sprayed in dictates how much BOOM you get. Now, if there is too much fuel for the air charge, it does not burn clean, you get black smoke.

If your timing is off, fuel will be not burning right, the shims under the pump dictate the timing, add more and the injection is delayed, remove them and it's advanced.
