Gehl 2500 wheel alternatives

I would think 7.00-13 would have been the original size, based on the vintage. Pretty sure that the skidsteer would have at least D rated tires on it from the factory. Mine has 3 studded bias ply tires that surely came off of some piece of equipment like a ditch witch or AT forklift.
Yea, that's what the manual says:
7.00 x 13, 6 ply construction grip type tread design
I don't know the actual dimensions of those old type tire numbers, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.
I had another thought, basically another argument for getting the 25" tires instead of the 23" that I got. Which is when the tires wear, the tread is quite deep so it can become probably an inch or more smaller when worn compared to when new. I could be wrong, but in my case I imagine that it will take a very long time for me to wear mine down that far, so we'll see how that shakes out. If I had thought of this before, I might have bit the bullet and purchased the 25" tires and 14" rims, but I'm still not sure if I had. $750 still sounds like quite a bit when I only paid a little over $2K for my machine to begin with. I think I'll be plenty happy enough with the tires I got. And of course 1" smaller tires still only translates to 1/2" drop at the axle. I don't think I would notice that really.
Well show us pictures of your machine with the new tires. We need porn!

I'll post pictures for sure when I get the new wheels on. E-bay seller e-mailed me a couple times about my shipping address which I've responded to multiple times now. Not sure if they sold out and are stalling for time to get some more in to ship me or what is going on...rims should have been here by now. I also horse traded for a smaller bucket with the correct mounts. It's in worse shape then my old bucket, but its not terrible. Old bucket was way too heavy for this machine. Once I get the bucket painted and the wheels on I'll venture out into the cold and take some pics (assuming I can figure out how...not too tech savvy).

The wheels showed up today! Look like they will work perfect with no wheel spacers, just like Vinto's set up. I got 4 Mitas sk-02 23/8.5-12 tires en-route, so hopefully I can have it all ready to go this weekend. I'm hoping this set up will work well for me...the current tires (remember 1 is basically a 13" radial car tire) are terrible in basically any condition off of concrete. The 14" tires with 185/75R14 snow tires only give me about 1/4" between the tire and the machine, so I'm just going to forget out them until next winter.

Yea well I won't believe you until I see pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing your restored machine in all its glory. I could use a little inspiration for my own as I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed lately.
But congrats Jon. I'm also looking forward to hearing how those tires actually function on the machine too. Mine are all mounted but they'll have to come back off for the spindle re-builds in the next few days. My gear boxes look to be in pretty good condition thankfully. I found some hydrostat bypass valve seat erosion problems I will be digging into tomorrow. It will take a little light machining to re-establish the seats but I've figured out a fairly simple procedure to pull it off and I'll post about it on my own thread. So anyway, I won't get to test my tires out for a couple weeks probably at least.
Remember, it didn't happen if there are no pictures.
