Hey I’m wondering if someone can help me pin point a problem with my cl30 skid loader that is powered by a v4hd Wisconsin. I was working it fairly hard the other day when it started to make a load clicking, ticking type of knocking noise. It only happens under load. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I’m not sure if it is a hydraulic pump problem or and engine problem. When not using any functions it sits there purring like a kitten with no knocking at all. Any input would be great thanks!

It sounds like your machine is quite similar to mine. Anything in the engine about to turn loose should make itself know regardless of load, although a VH head gasket failure will be louder under load but will still chirp enough at idle to let you know it's there.
Did you isolate it further by running the boom up and down, tipping the bucket to see if it was drive related?
I'm assuming that both variable pumps and the hydraulic pump are straight through driven, so if any component there was bad it would be noticeable all the time when running.
If the boom and bucket test fine, and it only makes noise while moving, next step is get all 4 wheels off the ground and see if it does it then, could be a chain slapping or binding.
