Tires are faster in ground speed. Tracks have a lower ground pressure. Tracks are known to be easier on turf compared to tires but I have to be really careful with my C185 to no tear up turf. Even my CTL with a full load of pavers still puts a lot of ground pressure based on the tracks it will leave in my yard. A wheeled machine would be worse. There is more to wrong with a CTL. A wheeled machine has motors, drive chains, axles, wheels, and tires. A CTL has motor/final drives ($$$), rear idlers, bogie idlers (4), front idlers, tracks ($$), and adjustment hardware. A CTL can work on much softer conditions without getting stuck. You can get them stuck, usually at the bottom of a creek.
