coupling for a Hydralic motor to a gearbox on rotory cutter.

well I'm almost finished with my 5' bush hog. now all i need is the coupling to join my Hydraulic motor to my gear box. The gearbox is a 1" smooth shaft with a 3/8" shearpin hole . and the Motor is a 1" shaft with a slotted wood drift pin. Can anyone help and point me in the right direction to purchase one .

Buy 2 single wide #60 sprockets with a hub that will fit each shaft. Aprox 5" outside diameter or larger. Then wrap both sprockets with a double wide #60 chain to lock together.
I would also suggest you skip the shear bolt and have the other shaft keyed as well. You don not need a shear pin because you have a relif valve to protect the system.
I was able to key my shaft using a .045" zip cut blade on a angle grinder. Most machine shops can do it for you also.

You can also look in a T B Woods catalog for a coupling with Taper-Lock Hubs. Or Falk makes a similar product. Each hub is a collet that wedges against/clamps the shaft. It will operate nicely w/o a key.

purchased a LoveJoy couplin for 35$ had to drill the shaft of the gearbox for a shear pin, but besides that it fits like a glove. almost ready to try it out as soon as i can purchase my quick connectors for my hoses.

using the L99-L100 My first run did eat the rubber up but the set screw came loose and the couplin slid back alittle which let the metal teeth eat up the rubber. i have two new ones and im putting lock tite on the set screw. i hope this keeps the two jawed couplins tight against each other. my next fix will be to weld the two couplins together.

I have the 9 GPM flow and im turning around 600 RPMS on my gearbox. its not as good as a 5000 dollar unit but i have around 400 total in parts so i think i came out with a nice piece of equipment.

When I had mine set up for my 13 gpm 753, I had it on my 8 gpm 553 and it still worked pretty good. Not earth shattering but way ahead of a brush saw (big weed wacker)
I think the love joy will stay together, just check the set screw from time to time until it takes a set. I use a 110 lovejoy, but I think they all will chew the rubbers out. There is to many shocks to the drive. The chain setup allowed the torque to be spread over a 5.5 inch dia instead of a 3 inch one. Even my chain drive is showing wear after a couple years, but I would have changed several rubbers by now
Keep check all the bolts, when ever you loosen them, as brush mowing tends to shake everything loose.
