If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would be very greatfull. I'm looking at purchasing a used bobcat (approx $25000.00) and i would like to get some info on what to look out for, and also is there any models I should stay clear from as this would be my first bobcat. I've will have a fair bit of dirt to move around on a steep block and also for cleaning up dirt pathways and so on. So would a posi-track loader be best or would a standard one with tractor tread over the wheels do? Any info would be fantastic. Thanks Craig.

Where are you located? as 25K USD is pretty high, you would get a pretty late model machine for that price.
In the Bobcat range, i don't think there are any that you should steer clear of, some do cost more if they need repairs. The late model machines have computers that are dealer only, if you need any work done the dealer has to hook up a laptop to work on it.

Hey there, For 25K, I would deliver my Bobcat 743 to your house for free and you can even keep my truck and trailer as a free gift. I'll take a cab to the airport for my trip back home.

I just bought a Bobcat 743 about 2 months ago. 1988 new engine and tires for $5400.00 put about $600.00 in for some repairs on things I wanted to get back to new. Plan on using it for a while to clear trees from my property, then will probablly sell it when I am done, and feel I will at least break even. If you want, I will sell it to you for $12,500 !/2 of what you are looking to spend. Had to put that in to keep going with the flow, although I will not deliver and give you truck and trailer :)

If you are really looking at that much money, you should seriously think about buying new you then get re-sale value and warranty.
If you live in the USA you should get a really good machine for around 16K. It depends on if you want vertical or radial lift too. Say a 753 or 763 with around 2,000 hours should do just about any job you need to do and they are pretty cheap. They both run Kubota engines that are reasonable for parts. The only one that i would steer clear of is a 751 with a pug engine. They are a great unit but the engines are spendy to repair. You can convert it to a Kubota though for a few K.

What year/model are you looking at? I bought a 2000 773 with enclosed cab and heat (no air) it had 850 hours on it at a dealer that was a rental, it was a very clean machine (until I got it!) They gave me a 72" low profile bucket because they couldn't find the one that was for it. It was like a new bucket.
