I'm thinking about modifying a small, gas powered concrete mixer so I can weld it onto a quick attach plate. Has anyone else tried doing this? It looks pretty straight forward, although I have some concerns about engine oiling and fuel dumping when I dump the load. Any advice?

The other way is to remove the engine and install a small hydraulic motor. I see the issue of oil splashing out and possible engine damage as you already pointed out.

Bailey's has a huge overstok sale going on right now, lot's of motors.

Call the 1-800-800-1810 for a catalog, the web site dosen't show all the surplus that's in the catalog.
It might be easier to mount a hydralic motor in place of the engine, gear it right . then you can tilt the drum at any angle powered off your aux. Scott

Sorry Tazza. I overlooked your post.scott
No worries! :)
Shame i didn't live in the USA, i'd like a few hydro motors but shipping!!!
I still have plans on building a concrete mixer for my skid steer, just a little larger.....

wouldn't a cement bowl on the end of an auger drive head work just as well?

I have seen them like that before, digga sells them i think.
Dont know how anyone else has made out above. I stole a brand new 3 point hitch mounted, pto driven cement mixer. I have a 3 pt hitch plate adaptor for the SS to pick up 3 pt implements, and mounted a hyd motor with a pto drive shaft on it. Cement mixer sat too close to use a pto shaft so I mounted its own motor with a sprocket for drive, but still attach it with the 3 pt adaptor. Turns it empty and I havent tried it with a bucket full of concrete yet but I am sure it will do well.
