Can someone please provide me with the publication number for a wheel motor repair manual and a hydrostatic pump repair manual for a 642B please. My dumb a## parts department tells me there is no such thing as component repair manuals. what a joke. It should be a 656 number I think.

There is no manual JUST for the drive motors, it should however be part of the repair manual for your machine. Same with the pump, it should be covered. The drive pump is Eaton/Vickers and a manual for that is on the net, i am pretty sure i have a PDF on my computer somewhere.
My 743 manual should have the motor details, if you want that let me know and i can scan it in.
If you want them, send me an e-mail (taz38sup at yahoo.com.au)

Zor I can't buy those off the net because they are in some other country, they want $71 shipping. If I can get the publication number off of the bottom left of those covers I could possibly order them from bobcat. My local parts department says whats in the repair manual is it. I just got a new $88 repair manual and their aint sheet in that, just a bunch of general sheet. Here is the problem with bobcats manuals. I ordered the repair manual for my 642B and it turns out that the numbers that bobcat has for the 642B book is wrong when it showed up it was for a 641, 642 and another machine. It was about 3/4 inch thick but there is alot of stuff different about those machines compared to the 642B for example they didn't even list the Mitsubishi motor repair and specs, so I took it back and told them they need to call bobcat and get me the right book. Well bobcat done some searching and found the right book. now I get the book returned the wrong book and come to find out the new book is only about 1/2 as thick as the wrong book and it's just general crap with good detailed engine repair and specs. All througout my manual there are little bold sentances that say, "see component repair manual for detailed instructions". So I call my dealer and they tell me there is no such book. I threw the BS card at the guy and I told him I am looking at the front cover of 2 of them on the net right now. He said well sorry. I asked him If he would call bobcat and he just passed the buck to the service department and well thats where i'm at now. Just another example of a piss poor parts department that won't help the customer. And nope they won't let me take the wrong book back home and copy some pages. JOKE!

skiddy .you can buy them off the net from the site you linked... you just don't want to pay that price ...that being said calling your local dealer's parts guy an ******** isn't going to help you in the long run!!if you dealer is like mine the parts guy most likely isn't as old as the machine your trying to repair, plus with each change of owners bobcat changes part numbers all of the time. those manuals may not be in the system any more.. I had a tech problem and i called the factory directly a very nice person answered the phone listened to my problem informed me that the person i needed to talk to was out and that they would have them call me back. i didn't expect to get a call back and figured i would have to call them about a dozen time to get to the bottom of my problem ,about 10 min later i got a call from the factory and an engineer was on the line to answer my questions . i don't know how they run things now but i was very pleased at the time with their desire to keep me up and running and a happy bobcat customer.

skiddy my most profound apologies, but calling someone a dumb ass or an ******** generally elicits the same response in my neck of the woods. complaining about the price is a question of don't want to as opposed to can't. just because someone on an agribusiness site in england has these manuals for sale doesn't mean they are still in the system ,or that the part numbers haven't changed. the machine your working on is about 25 yrs old so the parts manager might not be all that familiar with it even is he does have 25 years in at the dealership. a monday morning call to the factory might be your best answer to finding the manual you are looking for. more to the point bobcat didn't make the parts you are trying to rebuild so a call to the original vendor might be more useful, or a local hydraulic shop would be familiar with the components and be able to help you. when i replaced the pumps and motors in a 743 i had, western hydraulics in riverside knew exactly what components were in my machine (experience) they were able to sell me rebuilt exchange for less than the individual parts would have cost me.
