Cold weather starting

Somewhere in that 750+ pages, I ran across "refer to ????? for cold weather starting". I can't find it now. My Bcat has always cranked easy. But the last few days, it has been hard to start and ran rough the first few seconds. The only time it cranked like it should, I noticed that the glow plug countdown restarted again so I waited double the time and it cranked as usual. So, I was looking for info on cold weather cranking or the glow plug countdown. Usually, the number starts about 3,2,1. But sometimes it starts at 18. When it starts at 321, this is not enough to crank correctly. Are the glow plugs still heating at this point, meaning I can just self time more? Or do I do something to get it to start heating again. When it starts at 18 is after it did not crank the first try. Up till last week, it cranked perfect, and the outside temps are about the same. So, just needing explanation on how this works

How cold is it there? Last week I added fuel then realized it was straight number 2 from last fall and that has made a difference in how mine starts when it is 0 or below. Try to start it just before the countdown expires so the plugs are still hot , may help.

You might have to cycle the glow plugs several times and make sure there working.

I also cycle mine twice in cold weather then, set throttle at about 25%, and crank for 10-30 seconds and it will start every time, even with the Peugeot engine. It seems after cranking it for a little while it starts smoking then firing, and comes to life.

Is there a correct way to "cycle" the glow plugs. What I have been doing is letting it countdown to 0. Then clearing everything out by not starting but instead pressing the stop button, then re entering the code so that it cycles once again. Got to be a better way.

With a keyless panel, it may be the only way....
The other option is to install a block heater to help with cold starts if that is an option.
Where i am, it never gets below freezing, one glow cycle is all that is needed. I generally don't even need to let it count down, turn the key and crank.

It will crank perfect, instantly with at least a total combined of 10 countdown. But around 30 degrees, if you don't when the motor is cold, it has 4 seconds of trying to start and then runs rough the nect 7 or 8 seconds. I prefer it to crank instantly so I guess I will just have to recycle the countdown. In warm weather, it cranks instantly without paying attention to the counter. Thanks for your responses
