Picked up an armload full of new filters from the dealer the other day for winter maintenance on our 4 new holland skidsteers and found metal fillings under the plastic from the manufacturing process. Also 1 of the filters would not thread onto the side of the block. Couldn't believe it so I looked at all the filters and found the same result, cheap made in China crap. Confronted the dealer about it and his response was "this is what new holland has in their system so it must be alright". He obviously doesn't need my business. Since these machines are our livelihood I need to find a supplier with a good product and care about their customers. Spent the day looking for a new source for filters, can't believe that the poor quality and service that is out there. Would like to find a one stop shop. So far Carquest blue line filters are still made in USA, but they have to order most of them. Tried Deere and they are India, Mexico, or US. Napa Gold is Mexico. Haven't tried Bobcat yet. Anybody had any experience with the washable type filters?

Wix/Napa Gold filters are the best I have found. I don't use the OEM filters on my equipment because of price and availability. The Wix filters may be from Mexico I don't know but they are quality.

Who makes a water separator /fuel filter with a drain similar to New Holland? I was going to get a wix the other day and the drain on it requires a socket or wrench to open where the new Holland can be opened with 2 fingers. Usually I will use wix because it's more convenient and slightly cheaper. For the air on the 665 though I use bobcat filters, same filter but cheaper than new Holland.

Mike 10: the filters were lube 86546618 and 84259320. Jerry: try the carquest website with part #96082 to view the filters. Yeah I could find filters made in other countries but my view is this, if I'm going to make an investment in my equipment it needs to be with an company that has it all on the line like me. Some foreign company is not going to stand behind one little filter or even care if it works or not and there is no way to make them care. At least if I have a problem with a domestic product I can talk with someone who speaks the same language and lives under the same rules. I'm not going to take a chance on destroying my equipment to save a few bucks either. Anyway Looking into K&N which makes a lube filter along with washable air filter that fits the oem canisters.

You have two different models in your fleet it appears. The first number is for use on and ISM engine and the second number is for a Ford engine. First, were the filters labeled as CNH, or New Holland and in original equipment type packaging. The 86546618 has not been available for some time. The part number has been superseded twice since that number was available. Also, when they were available I never saw any from China. The 84259320 filter is another story. New Holland came out with a new parts catalog system for the dealers last year. The system is some instances is not accurate. NH has added a section which is supposed to list the filters and oil used on the model you are looking at. It appears your dealer used this section when he sold you that filter. It is a different number than is listed in the parts breakdown for the engine oil filter.
