Chains

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

According to Bobcat, and in my experience, chains should last the life of the machine.
I've seen chains damaged by sprockets, brakes, axles and bearings coming apart, but only if you keep using the machine after the failure.
A chaincase leak and water and mud getting in ruins everything in there.
Running solid tires too long, and the tires getting very short, with low ground clearance(the lowrider effect) beats the bottom of the chaincase into the sprockets and chains.
Anyway, if your chains are worn and/or stretched and dragging the chaincase, there is something else causing it, not just "time to change the chains."
