Cat 257B 05 model repowering.

having to repower my 257b perkins 3024c. I found one on ebay from the Dieselremanandparts02 for 6900 brand new with core trade in. I can have it installed for 1500 from my local mechanic. In the experts opinion is this a fair price? Also I'm going to have a rollback truck come pick it up but is there any bypass on the machine to make it roll instead of dragging it?

I can't help on the price, depending on what went wrong in the motor, you could get it done cheaper if it was something minor and it had fairly low hours.
As for a bypass, not really, usually brute force moves them. You can remove the drive motor hoses to allow it to roll after releasing the park brake. Honestly, i'd just drag it on and off.
