Anyone who has owned a Case 60xt, 70xt, 75xt and had to replace the drive motors after they began leaking hydraulic oil into the chain case remember how many hours were on the machine when this problem happened?

I have an 2003 40XT with3k hours and the left side motor is not original. Sorry i just got machine so I cant tell you when this motor was replaced. I have another post with its casting numbers listed to try and identify it and maybe a build date.

I was able to find out that drive motors were upgraded for 40xt, 60xt, 70xt by Case due to a issue with them leaking oil into the chain case. Build date codes are on the end of the drive motor from the manufacturer. The tag on the end of the drive motor has this format: Build date code: 20204 which means 202 day of year 2004. Supplier pin number: 177 0003 003. Any build date code that is after the 20204 has the newer drive motors. Hope this helps.

This is the tag on what I believe is my original leaking Char Lynn right side motor.
The left side motor which I believe has been replaced has only a casting stamp A X4996916-001-B.

Yes, The information I have from Case indicates that the right side motor was made on the 24 day of 2003. It is one of the old generation motors. The newer generation motors have a 177 0003 003 pin number. The left drive motor tag is something that maybe the manufacturer would be able to decipher.

This past September I did the right side (as your sitting in seat) drive motor on my 40xt and did not have to remove pump. I did have to remove all hoses and fittings on that side of pump and remove bolts from motor mounts to slide engine and pump over the 1" we needed to get motor flange to pass through and out. You could probably do the same with the left side motor but you have to get motor unbolted and slide under pump and over to the right side to get it out. On my machine the key was removing the motor mount bolts. It is a 2 man job and believe it or not we R & R motor in tires back on in 4 hours.

The heartbreak of owning an CASE XT and you see this when you remove any bolt above the fill plug on chain access case.
