I've been doing some shopping for a backhoe attachment for my skid steer. There seems to be a lot of brands with several different designs. I've about given up on a swing arm because of the prohibitive cost. Has anyone used the stiff boom type back hoe, and is there a brand that stands out from the rest? I really like the Bradco E60 and 70 from Skid Steer Solutions. They have a good package deal, but the specs on the boom cylinder is 3" X 12". All the other brands I've looked at, come with a 3 to 3/12 X 18 to 20 inch boom. Anyone have any thoughts?

Check out titian on ebay
I have one for my skidsteer. It is a digging wonder. I have a 8 in bucket for piping and an 18in for footings. The narrow does not clean out well being narrow. The 18 is great. My favorite attachment. I dug a 31 yard footing yesterday in about 4 hours. It was fun. Most think it would not dig well compared to an excavator. But it will out perform an excavator. Those are designed to sit and dig as much as you can reach and then move. The length of the boom causes a lose in leverage. The 8 ft reach of the skidsteer backhoe utilizes the weight of the machine. Instead of scratching, trying to get deep enough, I have to be careful not to overdig and cost myself more money in concrete. I can dig a 100% bucket every stroke. I can't recall the manufacturer of mine. I found my reciept but it had no name. It is well built. There are two manufacturers on 49 outside of Asheboro NC. It is the one 1 mile behind the one with hwy 49 frontage. Oh yea, Loflin Industries. I am going to add a couple 1/4 by 2 inch strips on the backside of my bucket where I see the paint wore off to protect from wear. Also mine has 3 teeth. I would ask for 5 on an 18 inch bucket if you were digging a smooth bottom trench.

I only have a 12" bucket on mine, it digs pretty well too. If the ground is wet, it does stick, thankfully i have only had this problem once when digging a trench for power to my shed.
Not sure i'd agree that it works better than a dedicated excavator. The weight on a skid steer is up the back, you don't get much down force with an attachment on a skid steer.
Even with that said, i have done some good work with my backhoe attachment and would never give it up.

For clay that sticks in the bucket fasten a chain from the center of the inside lip on the bucket to the boom. If you get the length right it will be slack when filling the bucket and when you uncurl it to dump it will pull the material out of the bucket.

I like that Idea

Is yours the sit out front or operate from in the cab?

If you had one of the new style, I think you would agree that they dig better... but maybe not. I am compare to the excavators I had been renting
I have run excavators , large and small and they are nice if you can afford them.
