Anyone surprised by this?
The brakes locked up last winter, in the middle of digging through some snow drifts, but I thought it was possibly the switch, so I flipped it on and off a few times, and they released, and worked fine until a month ago.
The brakes wouldn't release again but luckily, it's still in the shed.
So, reading this forum, talking with the skid steer shop, it could be....
Yeah, so I started replacing stuff, the switch, (the indicator light never did work on the off-red side) still locked. Replaced the master control box, with all the green lights on it, and still nothing. Some lights came on, and went out with turning on the parking switch, others, it was with the bucket switch. It didn't make any difference, since it was still locked. I tried the timer jump wire, and connect the orange wires, still nothing. I tried to get to the big connection where all the wires go to a plug, to go through the cab and into the machine, but it was actually removed from the hole and the connection was zip tied to something under the seat and the connection is either seized up or have lock-tite or JB Weld or something, but I did give it a good yanking, and sprayed electrical contact cleaner in and around where I could, and still nothing.
Now comes the fun part.
I have to move it and within the week, since I have a contractor that showed up early to work on the shed, and I don't have anything big enough to pull the yellow paperweight...
So, I thought I could disconnect the brakes, not only move it, but load it on a trailer, and take to the shop and have them fix it right.
So, I was able to get to one side, and disconnected the little oil line that's connected to the brake cylinder, then unscrewed the cylinder, but it's connected to something inside the gear housing. The diagram I found, looks like a roller chain link that connects it to what must be the actual parking "block" that locks the grears?
Now, my question is, does anyone know if the brake cylinder (or actuator) be unscrewed or taken apart to be able to release the brake?
I assume they have to be disconnected in some way, if it goes bad and need replacing. It felt spring loaded, but the diagram didn't show a spring.
I just really need to release them temporarily to get the thing out of the shed and to the shop, or at least out of the way for now.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
