Replaced head, ran fine. Now cylinder #2 (where the original crack failure in the head was, coincidentally) reported to be misfiring, killing the power, smoking, and hard to start. When the head was off, the cylinders all looked good, no scoring, very little wear/ridge. cleaned up well, and compression was good after repair. Steps to take in Dx this critter? -start and check which cylinder exhaust stays cold. 1. Compression test. anybody have a cranking spec for this? 2. if Comp ok, swap injectors with good cylinder. 3. if comp not good, pour oil in and recheck...check valve adj...bent pushrod etc.? What else? C

Checked compression...about even while cranking 280-300psi. So basic engine ok. Kubota V2003T Back to the issue I had earlier when I accidentally moved Cylinder #1 injection assembly on the pump. It turned, and then didn't deliver fuel, so I turned it back to where I could detect contact marks on the clamp, and it ran pretty well. Client says it has smoked and lost power since then...so maybe the issue of timing on #1 is still a problem or we have a new issue....maybe not #1? Will run it and do some further checks...crack the injector line....feel the exhaust manifold. When I find the weak cylinder... try adjusting that injection unit? What does it take to recalibrate a pump...I mean in terms of $ to have it done. Could be a bad injector too...could have that checked....

As you moved the injectors around and still had the issue, i'd like to believe the injector is not the issue.
I can't say what getting the pump rebuilt would cost, i got mine done years ago, and it was $440, that was even mates rates. I'm not sure if a shop will do just a calibration or if they would want to do the whole pump like they did on mine. If you told them it was running well till an adjustment was made, they may just calibrate it for less.
