Bobcat S185 Employee put battery in opposite polarities

Long story short employee put battery in with positive on the negative and negative on the positive had it on for five seconds and took it off with the sparks... Learning moment. Anyway, I am ordering parts.... Any suggestions on what to order for the electrical fixes and rebuild. So far, I have a new alternator, a solenoid, a 100-amp fuse, a 25-amp fuse, and an alternator regulator ordered... Any general tips on how best to fix this now?

well, I think what you need to do is figure out what actually got damaged, before just buying parts you may not need,
I'd start with checking fuse box/boxes, and se what was tripped or not

as that is kinda of the point of having fuses to protect things from damages(to a point)

once you find what fuses got tripped, and replace them,
I would then suggest re installing battery the correct way and see what happens,
from you can trouble shoot what might have got damaged

my employee connected the battery backwards on a Bobcat E32 mini ex and figured here comes a huge repair bill, turned out only the main fuse blew and thats fine by me

That's a well-designed fuse system! I hope mine is the same story although I know the alternator is fried

wouldn't the diode protect the alternator?

Alternator is shot, diode did not protect it

alt might have been old and on its way out and a little over flow of electric may have put it over the edge

but if all that;s bad is the alt, that isn;'t that bad a deal , have to look at things in a as positive was as you can~

and its never BAD to have a new alt ,(minus the $$ to buy one) to keep things charging and going, all the more so with colder temps and winter closing in!
