Hi folks my first post. I recently purchased an older 843B Bobcat. The old guy that owned it before me had taken the engine out and began taking it apart to rebuild. Then he died. His kids had cleaned up his shop as part of the estate sale, and as most old junk collectors there was likely an assumption that some of the bobcat engine parts were junk and unfortunately they were thrown out. When I bought the bobcat I knew I had to find an Isuzu 4JB1-PK01 engine which is turning out to be far more challenging than I thought. There were lots installed in trucks and I can find a rebuilt 4JB1 engine for a couple thousand US out of China. What is throwing a wrench into me pulling the trigger is the PK01. I have contacted dealers and Isuzu folks to find out what makes an Engine a PK01. I suspect it might be things like Oil Pan, Flywheel, Exhaust manifold and fortunately I have those parts from the original engine. The issue is I don't know if I have all the parts. Does anyone know what parts would need to be swapped from a 4JB1 truck engine to fit the Bobcat 843B. Thanks

Probably the best thing to do would be to call or email some of the Isuzu engine and parts suppliers and see if they can tell you the differences in the engine family. Even if that particular subset is unique to Bobcat someone should know what makes it so.
Failing that, there is an 843 manual in the manual thread that has the Isuzu engine repair section, and I see that on ManualsLib there is a workshop manual for the 4JA1.
The 4JA1 is the size below, which appears to be a shorter stroke version of the same, it might be possible to look through the Bobcat book and the Isuzu book and see any differences, but if you don't know what to look for it might be difficult to spot.

I have no experience with the Isuzu- but typically a "truck engine" has a limiting speed governor, while an "industrial engine" has a constant speed governor.

Go on the net and look for salvage yards, I suspect theres some out there where you can find one. did they put more than one engine in those. bobcat will tell you.

Thanks folks. Going through the manuals, and looking at the puzzle of pieces I have in my shop to determine what I have, and what I may need. Will let you know what I find out.
