Bobcat 843 -- Okay to buy or avoid completely

Hello y'all,

I am a landscaper in Central PA. Considering buying my first skid steer for farm work and part-time landscaping. I am just starting out and don't want to spend a ton of money. A local seller is offering me an old 843 for $8,000. I just bought a truck so I am trying to be budget conscious.

I don't know much about Skid Steers, other than how to operate them. I could use some advice. Any thoughts on this old machine? I figure the hours are not legitimate. Should I just save up and try to purchase something in the $15,000 range? Thanks.

for 8 grand if it is decent as stated not a bad deal at all. but if you have someone who is familair with heavy equipment have them take a look to get a second opinion. if hours are correct there is alot of life left in it if maintained.

Thanks, I went and took a look at it this morning and decided it was a good buy for me. I'm excited for it. I guess I'll have to learn to be a mechanic next

that age Bobcat is simple with no electronics to fret over, mine has been good verry little repairs after 7 years
