I'm looking at a 742 with a freshly rebuilt 1.9 gas engine. Solid tires, 2 buckets. Looks good, too. I need it mostly for landscaping. He wants $3500. Anyone want to sway me one way or another?

I currently own one, i wanted a 743 but one came available so i picked it up. In some ways i wish i had the diesel, on the other hand the maintenance of the gas engine is a lot cheaper. But mine is just a personal machine for me to use around my yard. I would recommend switching the points over to a electronic ignition, it made mine run considerably better. And definitely get rid of the solid tires.

The OE engine should be a 1.6 - have never heard of a 1.9. I have a 742 and it could use about 10 more horsepower, but beats a shovel by a great deal. Any hydrostatic skidsteer that runs and works is probably worth $3500. The solid tires will probably beat you to death on anything except level concrete or pavement.
