Hello all - I have always wondered about a red cylindrical attachment to my Bobcat 632 (1978 model) Ford engine. I am sure knowledgeable members will know the function of this attachment - more specifically - why does it have a PLUG that probably can go into a wall socket?? That seems odd. I am not in any rush to plug it in and find out what good/or harm it would cause!! (please see some pics I am attaching). Many thanks in advance!

THANKS!!
No harm if I plug it into a wall socket? How long should I leave it in? Sure seem like multiple wires are going from this device to the engine and to the alternator.

It is a common way to keep the engine warm for better starting. A person using this machine daily would shut it off at the end of a workday and plug it in for the night, next morning it is already a bit warmed up and ready. Leaving it plugged in for a day or days at a time is fine. Plugging it in the day before you plan to use it in cooler weather is fine also.

Got it! Yes plugged in for a couple of hours and noticed the radiator pipes seemed quite warm!
Thanks.
