Hi guys, I sure hope you can help me. I have a 1972 bobcat 600. The other day I was piling logs and tried to lift a particularly large log and the hydraulics were by passing because of to much load. suddenly a heard a small pop and the tilt stopped working. The lift and the variable speed all work normal but when I try to tilt I get very little movement and the weight of the forks cause the tilt to just fall down. What I am wondering is if it is likely the relief valve broke a spring and is stuck open? if so, is this found in the tilt control valve? Also I should mention that there is no external oil leak with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rick

I would lean more toward you blew the piston seal in one of the tilt cylinders and the oil is just bypassing internally. Since you have two tilt cyls disconnect the hoses and cap them on one of them. Now try the tilt. If you then have tilt that is the bad one , if not do the same with the other. If still no tilt then it may be a valve problem.

Thank you for the quick response. That really makes sense. I am so happy I joined this forum and asked before I dug in deeper than I needed to. I will try this tomorrow night and will let you know what I find. Thanks again.

If it is a seal that will be fairly inexpensive, dealer will have them. It could be the relief broken I guess but check for a bad seal first. I think I have a seal set in the garage if you cant get them easily.
