Bobcat 553 parking brake locked on

Hi; I had used the parking brake today and when I took it off - the machine still will not move back-forward or either side individually. I have checked everything I could think of to check and everything seems good - switches, connections, wires, hydraulic fluid etc, etc... also, the BICS controller lights are all in go condition...any ideas out there? Appreciate any help..
 
If the bics lights are all on steady it could still be the hold coil in the solenoid for the brake. have you tried swapping relays around? Next remove the solenoid and see if all ok mechanically for the brake mechanism....maybe things loosened up
 
The coils on the park brake can burn out. It may be as simple as a fuse or bad relay. I would start by checking if you are getting power to the coils. You will have 3 wires, black, red and i think white. Black is ground of course. One will be your hold coil that will have power all the time the coil is turned on, the pull coil is only on when the brake first disengages. It is then switched off to prevent it burning up.
Its where i'd start, check voltages at these points while releasing the brake.

You did not say how old your bobcat was, nor the general condition. My first bobcat was an older 773, and had some loose dirt in the foot area. Second time I used the parking brake, same thing as you describe. The big this is - do you hear the "CLICK" when you take off the parking brake (same sound you should get when you press the interconnect button)? If not, then check the parking brake switch (the parking brake pedal pushes this down) It should pop back up when you release the parking brake. Mine did not. It was stuck, and I had to tap it lightly with a stick to free it up - then all worked properly. I then cleaned the switch and all was well again. Cheers, -R

It is a '96 or so... only about 700 hrs but has definitely had some use... I found a bad fuse and replaced it and it lasted long enough to get it home... but blew again - so I checked the continuity of the red and black wires and they were definitely shorted... so I ordered a new solenoid - hope that does the trick. I also checked the wires in the harness where it goes between the fan duct and a hydraulic line (they get somewhat pinched there) and didn't find any bare wires... thanks for your help..P
