The Bobcat 543B (1992) manual (original with unit) and all info on web says diesel. Fuel label says gasoline. Kabota engine. 2700 hours. I will look for engine serial number next, hoping for clarity. Any other ideas or useful information?

Look for spark plugs, it none its a diesel. The rule of thumb for bobcats in that era was if the last number in the model number is a 3 its a diesel engine. And if it ends in a 2 it's a gas engine.

An older machine (1992)..might have had a gas engine put in it at some point..do not go off of P.I.N. number.
Let us know what you find.
You can also post a Picture of the Engine.
Also Bobcat shows only 1993 & 1994 years for model 543B, with a Diesel engine . How did you get 1992?

543B was diesel. I have a 542B which is gas.
I have seen the wrong numbers put on repainted machines.
Yes, spark plugs and spark plug wirers are for sure only on gas machines.

The year was written in the manual. Given the fuel port clearly states gasoline, have to conclude the manual was not original. Thanks for all the feedback. Pretty sure there will be more questions as I dive into possible ownership.
