Bobcat 520 dead short

I have a 520 and have replaced the wiring for the Kohler engine since it was rotten and rewired everything up to the ignition switch and I stil have a dead short. I am looking at replacing the alternator/starter. Is there anything else I am over looking?

Disconnect all the wiring except the negative battery cable, connect a test light between the positive battery terminal and the positive battery cable. Reconnect each wire one at a time starting with the other end of the positive cable until the test light comes on and you have found the shorted circuit.
