Old Bobcat 231 with the v 1902 b engine in it. Good old machine with 1700 original hours on it. Question is.. after a while the thing gets hot. Had a friend tell me to add a 2nd electric fan (1st one runs off the crank) This does the trick and will keep it cooled... But I'd like to actually fix it if something is wrong. I've cleaned the air filter, flushed the radiator, air hosed out the radiator to clean it out, replaced the thermostat. Ideas? I haven't replaced the water-pump but was thinking I need to take a good look at it. thanks in advance!

As you said the extra fan helped fix the issue, it does sound like the radiator and water pump are doing their job, there just isn't enough air flow to transfer the heat. Is there a cowling that isn't in place to direct the air through the radiator?
