axle bearing lubrication

can you pack the axle bearing with grease instead of filling the chain case the whole way. my axle tube are damaged seal o.d fit area and wondering why the bearing are flooded with oil versus grease packed thanks, tony

How bad is the axle tube? you can use quality silicone to seal the axle seals into the tube.
Grease alone will not work, the bearings are open so it will run out and the reduction boxes have bearings and gears that need lubrication. Same with the chains.
