I just purchased my 1st BC skid steer today and it will be delivered in a couple days. It is an 843, [said to be 1988 +/-] with an isuzu dsl engine. Naturally it needs a bath, but ran well and looked like some effort was made to keep it mechanically sound. I copied what I thought was the serial # to get a jump on ordering new filters etc, but #503728972 has proven worthless so far. Any ideas on what year/model this is since there are multiple 843 reference out there. Also in terms of fluids and filters, what recommendations would you all have on getting her refreshed for winter use. Appreciate any thoughts you can share. Thanks!

Thanks OldMachinest, I will get them ordered today. Anyone have recommendations for coolant, Hyd fluids, engine oils etc. I personally have sworn by synthetic motor oils, I have a Chevy Avalanche with just under 300k, and attribute that to Royal Purple and Amsoil over the years. Thanks!

Discussing oils on here sometimes get out of hand but I throw out some suggestions
Original coolant was propylene glycol based. If you don't know for sure which type of coolant it has in it then you should drain/flush and refill with whichever type(propylene or ethylene glycol) you'd like.
Engine oil should be any quality diesel grade that's readily available for you.

Hydraulic/hydrostatic fluid is where many disagree. I use universal tractor transmission oil that meets Sundstrand's hydrostatic transmission spec. Amsoil synthetic tractor hydraulic/transmission oil meets the spec.
Chaincase oil can be any clean engine/hydraulic oil. Some people use the oil they drain from the hydraulic/hydrostatic system.

Hydraulic Filters, all 3 exist, or are their choices to be made? BT8840 and BT8840-MPG seem like a choice exists for 1 filter location, however without machine here, I am not sure. BT8861 looks larger and a separate filter easily enough.

Different filters for various serial number breaks. It looks like from my parts book your machine should be Bobcat #6598903 but I can't guarantee that. I'd wait until machine is there or go to/call Bobcat dealer with serial number to verify part number.

Thanks again, I will be patient and await its arrival before ordering the filters.
