Question for all those who say the 763 is one of the best Bobcats ever...
For personal use, is a 763F (non-BOSS) that much more useful than a 743C?
It lifts a bit more and is probably more stable (long wheelbase), but it's wider and longer, so takes up more room to store and operate.

I have a 743C, but saw a 763F for sale ($9,000). Would probably be $2-3k more after I sell my 743C.
Thanks,
...karl

I guess that depends on weather you want or need the extra lift capacity, engine hp and hydraulic pump flow, and perhaps increased hyd pressure, Uping pump flow and pressure gives you more hydraulic horsepower to you quick couplers, so if you run a brush cutter or snow blower that could be a assest.
The longer wheel base will be more stable on grades, the shorter one will be easier on tires if you must make alot of sharp pivot turns in a confined area.
Personally I would go to a s150 to get the double bucket tilt cylinders as that single cylinder design wears the pins on the tilt cylinder much faster, same size pin but double the load. But then you get a machine with a computer to control the guages. A F series without the Boss option is about as new as you can go and be all mechanical.

Well my two cents is this, for just digging in the dirt, you probably will not notice much difference. Little more power, little more lift don't equal to much real world. Why this is I don't know, 740's trend travel faster then most other machines including the 763. If you want to run attachments, this where the 763 will shine. It has about 5-6 more gpm then a 743, putting in into modern era hyd performance. I would base my decieson on what shape my 743 is in compared to the 763 and go with the nicer one. If you can upgrade for a low cost, I doubt you would be dissapointed in a 763. Personally if I was in the market for a machine, I would look for a 763 G.

I've owned both models and liked both. The 763 pros are more lift capacity, auto glow, quick to start, higher gpm hydraulic flow, stable wide base, liked the belt drive setup making it easier to get to engine for service, just to name a few. Cons, didn't like how the blower blasted the ground with air causing a dust cloud around where I was working and I didn't like the auto park break. I would forget to release it and I can see how after a few times you could easily break it if you weren't idled down when you run into it, and the 763 uses more fuel. Other than lifting capacity and a nearly impossible to grease U joint I can't say much bad about the 743. Love mine!
