I bought a 743 was loosing fluid to the chain case replaced the seals and snow balled from there rebuilt the gear cases new chains new style chain guides wheel bearings, seals and wear rings a few hydro lines and ujoints running great now but I just found out the aux hydro valve is stuck any tricks out there to free it up thanks so much could not have gotten this far without you guys

Thanks Jerry but it is stuck in center no pressure hate to drain and pull
Mine is a different location of course but it was sticky also a year ago and I got it to move just by working some penetrating oil and wd 40 in by squirting it on the spool end and jiggling the lever. There are little balls and springs the do the detent and that is probably what is sticky.

By the way, you don't still have the 3/8 lock bolt in the lower part of the stick do you?

Remove the cap on the back of the aux hydraulics too, see if there is anything rusted up.
If it's stuck well enough for you to not be able to move it, you will need to pull the spool out to clean up the rust as it will cut the seal up. Then you may have issues with it leaking......

A search of this forum for “detent” turned up a lot of posts and I think you should contact old machinist as he had one post about a 863 that sounded like you need to follow a specific procedure to remove the balls and replace them.

If you remove the E clip on the back of the cap, push the middle part inwards while sliding the cover off, the detent balls will stay in place.
The needle may work, but i'm still concerned that if it has rusted up, the rust will chew up the seal and you will have a nasty oil leak. Either way, if you plan on using your aux hydraulics, it needs to be freed up.
