I know that this type question has been asked in the past, but I think my situation is a little different. I borrowed the 743 from my dad. I am not familiar with working on a bobcat or a diesel for that matter. It quit on me after running it for a couple of hours. It acted like it ran out of fuel. I immediately tried to crank it back up to see if I could get to my shop. It hit a lick like it was trying to crank. I figured I ran out of fuel, but I do not think so because I put about 1 gallon in before I started. I added fuel and it still would not crank. So today I replaced the fuel filter assuming it was clogged. I has to use an air hose to put pressure in the tank to get fuel to the filter. The primer bulb has been removed sometime in the past. Got it bleeding out the top. I have a downloaded manual I got off ebay (I guess it is good). It said to turn open a valve where the fuel attaches to the fuel rail on the left side of the engine. Then turn over until it cranks and close the valve. Well, that did not work (I am not sure what this valve does or if I have messed up by adjusting it). I then loosened the front injector and tried to bleed it. Turned it over many times and no fuel. So I then loosed the second injector. Turned it over and fuel spewed out of the second injector line. I tightened it back up and waited on fuel to come out of the first injector. After turning the engine over many times… nothing. Ok, here is the question, how do I have fuel to one injector and not the other? I mean the fuel lines do not split far from the injectors. Is there a mechanical control that could be stuck? Could the fuel line itself be clogged (how would something that big get past the filter?)? Also would one injector keep it from even trying to crank? I have not tried to bleed the others yet. Thanks for any help.

Its always possible there is something that got stuck, but as it was working fine before, i'd suspect something else first.
The fuel coming from the injector lines, are there any bubbles? The pickup tube in the fuel tank is prone to cracking and falling off, ensure its not cracked or you will be pulling in air and the engine will simply not run. Installing a hand primer is a good idea, it makes priming easier and you can feel if there are bubbles in the fuel system. Open the bleed screw on the injector pump and squeeze the hand primer, you can feel the bubbles. When its firm and even as you squeeze, close the bleed screw, you should be good to go from there.
Hopefully that gets you started again.

Thanks for the reply. I installed the primer pump. Good to have for the future (much easier to prime), but its not the problem. * * Here is what I know now. I know I have fuel to the fuel pump. I disconnected the line flowing into the fuel pump and fuel was flowing out. I then turned the engine over many times and still nothing at the front fuel injector. I then disconnected the fuel line coming from the fuel pump flowing into the injector pump. Fuel squirted out, no air, so I know I have pressure there. I do not have have fuel at some of the injectors, and I do not have what I would consider pressure at any of them (I believe it should be over 1000 psi, should squirt). I have now learned that there is an injector pump which I have fuel going to but no pressure coming out. My assumption is an injector pump problem. ** Also, I had an engine oil leak start within minutes of shut down which I thought was unrelated (yeah I should assume related). I saw black oil on the dirt minutes before shutdown. The engine oil leak is somewhere on top of the engine, around the injector pump or maybe front of the head. Could something go wrong with the injector pump that would cause an oil leak? Maybe a pressure leak that blew the seal? ** I have read around about the injector pump and as I understand it I cannot repair it myself. Any tips on testing, replacing, having rebuilt, buying new?

You should post your question in a new thread in the John Deere section and someone more familar with Deere loaders will read it.
Since you seem to sure its not the valve then its ether a piston seal in one or both of the cylinders thats bad and bypassing or the pump pressure is low. Send a message to the email address in my profile and I'll send you a link to download the John Deere 240 service manual.
