Ok dumb question for the day. My 743 has the middle pedal and I always thought that it was for the aux. controls. I normally have controlled the aux with the right control, but I have the bolt in place so I can't activate. I saw from other posts that it may be a parking brake. Of course, I don't have an owner's manual, so I'm relying the vast knowledge of this forum for the answer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks - actually tried that and it has no effect - with the pedal forward or back the machine moves without any hesitation.
Once you adjust the steering to stop the creep, the brake should work. If not the brake will have to be adjusted.

Yep, park brake.
You can adjust it by simply tightening the nut that is on the steel bar that comes from the park brake pedal, you will need to lift the cab to do this.

if you can't get enough adjustment to make the brake knuckle in , you can remove the adjustment nut and put a spacer under the adjustment nut and readjust , a bobcat lug nut works well

LOL so true about the wheel nut! i bought a machine that had this exact "modification".

It is the parking brake. If set forward it "should" keep the machine stationary.
Along the same subject, my 742b has a red button under the brake peddle. It does not seem to touch anything when the peddle is depressed or otherwise. Can you or anyone tell me what that button does please.

That button seems to be something that was put in aftermarket. No such button in the parts catalog.

I had a late model 742B and there was no button.

I would suggest tracing the wires and see what they are connected to.

I am guessing but I would think someone added a warning light to come on when brake is activated.

I have the same thing on my 94 742B. When I took the plate that it is on off to clean out the drive chain case, I found it to be a breather cap. Wish they had used something with a filter on it, as a hell of a lot of dust found its way into the chain case over 30 years.
