Last week I went to start it, and while I was heating the glow plugs I heard a small pop sound. Almost like when you blow a paper bag up and pop it but softer of a pop followed by the dreadful burnt electrical smell. It fired and ran without any problems and I forgot about it. This morning I went out to plow snow with it and it fired up fine. The relay "clicked" and everything was normal. Does anyone know what that might have been? I also visibly checked each glow plug and they all looked fine. It's a 1987. Oh, and I just replaced the glow plugs about 3-4 months ago. Thanks, Doug

Check for loose wire conections on relay and plugs. The amperage is very large on the plugs and it is possible that some loose wire connection has been welded by itself.
