I have an early 642. I have hyra oil leaking into the chain case...It leaks even if the machine is sitting with out running! after 2 days or so it will go down a quart or so.. The drive motors seems to operate just fine..both sides seem equal...I have owned this machine for 17 years (home owner use and clean snow). it operates fine..is it possible the drive motors seals are bad? could they leak even if not running? I have replaced the final drive chains a couple times thro the years, do the chains need to come off then pull the motors out? could it be anything else? Thanks for your help. Darryl

I never thought it would leak when not running, but it's possible that the seals on the reduction box on the chain case is bad, allowing fluid to leak into the chain case. But when shut off, there is no pressure, so not sure how that's happening.
