my 632 has 30 HP with the 4cyl. ford engine. i have noticed that larger machines with same engine have 32HP and was wondering what the difference is. is it carb jetting or cam difference or what. i would like to bump mine up alittle if not a lot of trouble. thanks for any information.

You will probably find its a lower sized engine, like a 1.3 instead of 1.5 liter. Honestly, 2 extra HP would give you very little gain.
Are you having power issues? or just something you thought may just give a little extra performance?

Tazz just thinking it might give me a little extra if i should need it. i like to piddle around with such as that just to see what happens. this little engine also comes in a few cars so i know it is capeable of a lot more HP. they seem to be very sturdy also.

if both your unit and the next size machine have the same CID engine then a 2 HP difference is most likely a higher RPM seting.

I agree, it could be simply a lower RPM setting. I wouldn't go much more than say 3,000 RPM though. The max speed the pump is rated for is 3,400 RPM from the info i have. Unfortunately a petrol engine has its main torque curve at like 5,000 RPM. This is where diesel engines are good, their sweet spot is around 3,000 RPM. I guess you could tweak the speed a bit? just not too much higher.

that sounds good on the rpms the engine runs at a fairly low rpm but i never worried about it when i had other people running it. i guess you know how other people are. this is the only machine i keep when i went out of buisness. i have owned this machine for about 25 years and have had very little trouble with it. i believe i will hook up a tach to it and shoot for an extra 2 to 3 hundred rpms. thanks for the info.

I may be out of date on this but most governed gas engines used to be about 3000 r's and diesel about 2100, Some diesel truck engines now run much slower than that though.

Well my Kubota has a max rated speed of 3,300 RPM i believe.

manual says 2500 rpms and mine is turning 2200 so i bumped it up to 2500 and can tell a big diff at WOT. guess i will leave it there for a while.

Very nice, it won't cause any harm having it there, not exactly sure what the pumps are rated at but i'm sure it was over 3,000 RPM
