Maybe you answered this somewhere else…..why did you bypass your 'variable speed' valve? Its just good old Taubmans Ultra Enamel white Tazza.

6brnorma. When I got the machine the entire roto swivel was missing and the sheave had been 'fixed' with a piece of pipe inside the sheave. So to neaten it all up I decided to remove the lever and the control valve and just run a hose from the lower control block to the distribution block.Maybe you answered this somewhere else…..why did you bypass your 'variable speed' valve?
Ah…yes….I talk to so many people about these machines, I forget who is doing what to theirs. Some of your old photos no longer show in the threads so I couldn't remember. The variable speed sheave is no longer available……hopefully someone will start making it as an "aftermarket" item but for now ….. what you have is what you've got. The entire "roto-swivel' assembly is still available but pricey.6brnorma. I priced up a new roto-swivel locally but it was just too expensive. If you are ever parting one out let me know.
Also….you are missing the 'air shields' around the spark plugs….if you can't find any…I could be talked in to sending you some.Ah…yes….I talk to so many people about these machines, I forget who is doing what to theirs. 6brnorma. You may remember I came up with this assembly as a replacement for the hydraulic roto swivel. Its a spring loaded gizmo that lets me manually adjust the space between the sheaves simply by screwing the nut in or out. 'Widening' the sheave can be done in one go. 'Narrowing' the sheave requires a couple of steps. (i.e. Screw in the nut. Turn the engine over. Repeat). It worked fine in the limited time I used it before pulling the whole machine down.Also….you are missing the 'air shields' around the spark plugs….if you can't find any…I could be talked in to sending you some.
I always paint my rebuilt engines "Pontiac Blue"….for speed ;-)
Yes I do…..great job.6brnorma. You may remember I came up with this assembly as a replacement for the hydraulic roto swivel. I didnt realise it was meant to have 'air shields' until you mentioned it, but now I can see they are on the parts diagram. What are they for? Cooling efficency? I think I have something in the shed that will do the job.
