Hi there,

Glad I found the forum , hopefully and easy one to fix.

Started off with 2 error codes, battery voltage code and starter error code.. checked voltage at battery with machine running and had a low 12v.. so replaced alternator.. errors went away... for about 2 hours of run time.. Starter error came back and smelt burning electrical.. starter was smoking.. Replaced Starter..

inbetween this part swaping.. the machine had a crank in the on position symptom.. so you'd turn the key to on.. it would start cranking.. wouldn't start until you turn the key to crank..

so after digging a little deeper.. it appears that the 12v signal to the starter selenoid is getting energized with the key in the on position.. starter error code means its getting 12v signal back on starter wire..

I'm guessing I have a stuck starter relay. . Where is it? I noticed that when I turn the key to the crank position , something clicks on the left had side of the head... What is that ?

can someone please help explain what is allowing the machine to start when in the crank position but not the on position? Guessing it has something to do with whats on the side of the head.

first piece of equipment for me.. so I'm trying to get a little better educated on repair and maintenance ...as throwing parts at the problem has obviously not been the solution.. I'm also attaching some electrical Drawings for the 430 incase they aren't on here already.

The relays are in with the fuses.
Here is a link to the parts catalog:

It could also be a bad ignition switch or a short in the wiring.

I've pulled the control board. Checked for shorts best I can.. and didn't find any shorts. Definitely no short in the switch. It is a turn key control board.

I was thinking it could possibly be a bridged connection inside the control board. Opened that up and it all looks ok on a visual inspection.

I'll check out the parts catalog, but it's been a bit of a struggle navigating that thing. Where are the fuse ?
