So I figure I'll start another new post on my LS 180. Long story short, injectors are rebuilt, head was resurfaced and valve job done. Put everything back together. It started when it was cold out and the grid heater was on and engine block heater plugged in. I went to start it today it was 45 degrees out, it cranked and tried to fire. It finally did and took forever to warm up and run. When it finally did warm up it ran like a champ!! It definitely likes a warm intake when it starts. I still never found the grid heater on the intake when I had it apart. Anyways, not sure what is going on, Atleast I could get my work done and two stumps dug out. See what happens tomorrow. Any thoughts?? Also what head water temp supposed to be ? Thanks , Nik

I would say to verify that the grid heater is heating, if you can temp. wire in a amp gauge where the harness hooks to it and engage the heater to see how many amps it is pulling,as a guess somewhere over 30, look up in the manual for the heater relay and see how many amps it is rated for that will give you a idea. If you still can not find the heater you could remove the relay and place gauge there to check for load . but really there should be fairly heavy wires that would have gone to it ,that you would have had to disconnect and reconnect on engine intake manifold if you laid it off to the on a bench while you took head off. temp. should be around 180 degree F.

Yeah, that's what I figured. My temp is 190-200 while it was running today. Also the concentrate of antifreeze percentage might be high. Thought she was running hot.
