1830 r-688 timing marks

Can anyone tell me where the ignition timing marks are on the continental/Renault r-688 (4cyl gas) engine? I'm trying to time it with a timing gun but cant locate a mark on the front of the engine. Thanks

hi mate, it is located just above the bottom pulley, slightly to the right. it looks like a small bit of metal shaped similar to an arrow (sort of) and there should be a groove in the back edge of the pulley. You might have to put a touch of white paint on them to see with a timing gun. if you need a pic let me know.
