My newly acquired 246 has a couple apparently-factory holes I don't understand. Perhaps other with this machine can tell me what they are for. Maybe they're custom, not factory.

The first one is what appears to be a metal socket that goes through the upper left rear of the cab, as shown in the first picture. A closeup of it is in the second picture. The socket goes through the cab and has a 2-wire connector plugged into it. See third picture.

The second set of holes I am wondering about is also shown in the third picture. At each upper side corner of the cab, there are a pair of about 1/2" holes. It looks like something used to be bolted there. Does anyone know what those 8 holes are for?

The holes at each corner of the cab are for bolting "pick points" ( steel plates with holes in them that reach above the cab ) so that the machine could be lifted with a crane. If you look at photos of the 246 online you will see what I'm talking about.

Not positive, but I think that the metal socket may be a "cigaret lighter" type outlet. Used for placing a portable magnetic safety strobe on top of the cab.

Thanks for the tips. I later found in the manual that the metal socket is exactly what you said; for a portable strobe. I was able to use the hole and the circuit for a perfect easy fit for installing a backup camera.
