New Holland L783 Relieving Hydraulic Pressure

I purchased the above skidsteer last year and the bucket was in the raised position. It wasn't in the locked position. The hydraulic pump was out of it and I have since had it rebuilt. During this time the bucket has come down so that I cannot get in there to reinstall the pump. How do I relieve the pressure on the boom So that I can lift it back up?

it will be messy but just loosen the hoses and use some other means to lift arms and block rams.

That is one way and I would have said the same thing but I wonder if you can remove the cylinders without opening the system. If not then remove the lines on both cylinders and use a chain fall if you can or another method to lift the bucket and arms Use a pan and let the oil flow into that. Slow stready lift. Can you possibly have someone hold the control in the up position and let the oil flow to tank. Not sure how they made this unit you have but it may be a possible. Good Luck!
 
It's disconnect the lines and lift it manually or try to remove a cylinder end pin lift it manually. I lifted mine with hoses still connected using blocking and a bottle Jack between the machine frame and cross brace of the arms at the rear of the machine. I maxed out the Jack ,chocked the arms, raised the jack with blocks and repeated till I could set the machine safety latch.

Put a battery in it if it doesn't have one and turn the key on. Get someone in the machine holding the boom raise pedal while you lift it with another machine. If yours has the safety interlock system for the boom you'll have to make sure you go through all the steps to unlock the boom solenoid so the oil can flow. Once the arms are up then have the person inside the machine lock the booms up and carefully let the boom down with the other machine until it is on the locks.

I have an L170 that is the same way. Bought it with a bad engine and I need to raise the boom. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to do it yet. It has a lot more of an interlock system on it than my L785 does. I'm planning on just undoing the cylinder hoses and trying to catch the oil in a bucket to get the boom up so I can tip it and the cab forward and get the engine out so I can work on it.
 
Good point about the safety interlocking system. My guess is that depends on the year of that machine. IS the interlock for up and down or just loss of pressure on the pressure side? If it protects both sides pressure and return then your spot on. That leaves the lines off the cylinders. Good information. Thanks
