A healthy fully charged batter should be 12.9 to 13.1 volts at rest. 75% is 12.6-12.9. 50% is 12.4-12.6. 25 % battery is 12.2-12.4. 12 volts on a 12V battery is way low.

Depending on you storage conditions it could have accumulated water from condensation in the block. I would drain the oil and see how much water comes out. If there is not a LOT of water I would put in fresh oil and new filter and run again and see what happens. If it shows water again you need...

Good news, found the float problem. The pedals have slotted holes for the mounting bracket for the pedals. One of the mount bolts for the left pedal loosened enough for the mount to move enough that it wouldn't go into the float mode detent. I love easy fixes.

So Tazza, what did I do wrong trying to post that U joint picture, and what did you do to fix it? I got "lucky" the hydraulic tube that runs across the bottom forward of the engine rusted out so I had to pull the engine to replace the tube. Bill B
