I was spreading gravel and dirt yesterday, float mode detent on the lift working normal, big help. Then it did not have the detent anymore, but would float if I held the pedal down. Then it would not float, just squeals if i try to hold the pedal down. So I read the manual and see that the detent has little balls and a spring and to disassemble you need to take both ends of the spool apart, looks like a lot of work. 1. Is this as envoled as it looks? 2. any one know the shop hours/cost to have it fixed? Thanks BB I was able in the past to make paragraphs etc. looks like I forgot how, help?

It is doable, just fiddly and you will possibly loose the balls as they are under spring tension. Remove teh rear cap from the lift spool, slide it off and replace the balls/spring possibly the cover if badly worn.
The hardest part is getting it baclk together, I used a cable tie to hold teh balls into the spool and slide the cover on and cut the tie off.
If you wanted the dealer to do it, you would need to call for a price.

Good news, found the float problem. The pedals have slotted holes for the mounting bracket for the pedals. One of the mount bolts for the left pedal loosened enough for the mount to move enough that it wouldn't go into the float mode detent. I love easy fixes.

Lucky catch! saved a lot of work.
Even better that you managed to get those bolts loose, most of the time they are so rusted you need to cut them off :)
